Ryan Philippe talks about divorce from Reese
Actor Ryan Philippe opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about how his children are helping to pull him through his divorce with Reese Witherspoon. It was quite a shock when the seemingly happy couple made the announcement they would be ending their marriage of 7 years. The couple have two children, 7-year-old Ava (who is a mini Reese!) and 3-year-old Deacon.
“Going through something like this, as difficult as it is, my daughter has been the inspiration,” he says. The Cruel Intentions star says his daughter is beyond her years in “conscientiousness and maturity.”
“I know it sounds pathetic–I’m a 32-year-old guy, but my 7-year-old daughter is getting me through the toughest time in my life, and that’s beautiful too.”
When asked how Deacon is handling the split, Philippe says, “He’s all right, you know. I mean, 3-year-olds–he’s fun, everyday he says something that makes me laugh, warms my heart. They’re hanging in there. It ain’t easy.”
The couple seems to be taking the right attitude in handling their divorce by keeping their children as top priority. “It’s devastating, but the bottom line is the focus is on the children, and they’re doing amazingly well and that’s really all that matters.”
