Golf phenomenon Tiger Woods made a special birthday announcement today–he is going to be a father.

Woods writes on his website: “As some of you know, today is my 31st birthday. I’ll spend it quietly with family and friends, but Elin and I have more exciting news to share: We are expecting our first child this summer. Obviously, we couldn’t be happier and our families are thrilled. I have always wanted to be a dad. I just wish my father could be around to share the experience.”

Tiger and his father, Earl Woods, shared a very close bond before his death in May of this year after battling prostate cancer.

This will be the first child for Tiger and his wife, Swedish model Elin Nordegren. The two were introduced by Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, who hired Elin as his nanny. (Kudos to Jesper’s wife–I would never hire a Swedish model as a nanny!) Tiger and Elin were married in 2004, four years after they met.

Controversial singer Sinead O’Conner and her boyfriend Frank Bonadio welcomed a baby boy, Yeshna Francis Neil Bonadio,  on December 19th, just shy of his due date on Christmas Eve, reports Baby Names.

Little Yeshna has yet to leave the hospital after developing pneumonia. He remains in Intensive Care, however his condition is reportedly improving. This is the third child for O’Conner, who has three children from previous relationships. Jake is 18, Roisin is 10 and Shane is 2.

 

Update: People magazine has confirmed what we reported this morning–Julia Roberts is pregnant! Marcy Engelman, Julia’s rep, confirms to People that she will be expecting her third child this summer. Congratulations!!

What Pretty Woman is rumored to be pregnant with her third child? The New York Post is reporting that Julia Roberts, 39, is pregnant and due this summer!

Julia and husband Danny Moder are parents to fraternal twins Hazel and Finn, who just turned two.

A spokesperson for Julia is not commenting, but we hope this baby rumor is true!

Christina Aguilera was recently seen going on a shopping spree at the Beverly Hills baby boutique Petit Tresor, a favorite of many celebrity moms including Katie Holmes, Tori Spelling and Brooke Shields. The petite songbird was not buying gifts for herself (although we hope to see her with a baby bump soon!)–she was buying gifts for the twins girls of Sean “Diddy” Combs and Kim Porter.

D’Lila Star and Jessie James, now 1 week old, received over $1000 worth of gifts from Christina! Buying two of everything, the gifts included frog flipper slippers ($22), Robeez Cherries shoes, pictured ($32), Baby Rosebuds Layette sets ($129), Kaloo Dragee Musical Teddy Bears ($39) and Mia Bossi Maria red pepper diaper bags ($340). Lucky gals!

Hello! magazine is reporting Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown has hired prominent attorney Don Engel to ensure that her ex-boyfriend, Dreamgirls actor Eddie Murphy, claims responsibility for his unborn child.

This comes on the heels of Murphy’s remarks to the press when asked about the pregnancy: “You’re being presumptuous, because we’re not together anymore. And I don’t know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”  Ouch!

Mel B is reportedly around 5 months pregnant.

Engel, who charges $500/hour, has represented celebs like Cher and Meatloaf.

Monk actress Traylor Howard is reportedly pregnant (or has possibly already had her baby?). TV.com confirms that Howard, 40, announced her pregnancy in the summer of 2006; however, to my knowledge, no baby announcement has been made.

USA Network blogs are reporting that the Son of the Mask star was seen at the Monk wrap party in November and she was looking, “radiant…but ready to burst.”

I wonder if the father is her soon-to-be-ex-husband Christian Navarro?  She is in the process of divorcing her husband of 3 years.

Does anyone have any information on Traylor and if she has had her baby yet?

It looks like Heidi Klum wasn’t the only celebrity craving a white Christmas. Actor Chris O’Donnell, fresh off of his role on Grey’s Anatomy, spent the holidays in Aspen, CO with his family.

Chris is seen here with 6-year-old Chip and 3 1/2 year-old Charlie. Wife Caroline, 7-year-old Lily Ann and 9-month-old Finn must have been staying warm at the lodge!

New parents Heidi Klum and Seal spread some holiday cheer in Aspen, CO on Christmas day. 1-month-old Johan looks to be staying warm in his stroller. The family reportedly like to spend their holidays in Aspen because they want a white Christmas. How fun!

Phoenix Coyotes player Jeremy Roenick is facing some family health issues this holiday season. ESPN is reporting that the hockey player will be missing some games (he has already missed last Saturday’s game) due to an undisclosed illness facing his teenage daughter, Brandi.

Coyotes coach, Wayne Gretsky, made this statement: “The most important thing is the health of his child. That’s more important than what we’ve got going on right now.”

Roenick and his wife also have a son named Brett.

All My Children actress Sydney Penny (AKA Julia) has announced to TV Guide that she is pregnant. Due in June, this is the first child for Penny, 35, and her husband of 11 years, Robert.

The show has not decided how they are going to address her pregnancy, but Penny hopes they write it in. “I have a feeling that they’re going to write my pregnancy in…I’m hesitant to definitely say yes or no until I actually see it in a script. That certainly would make it easier for me, because it’s so hard to cover it up if you’re not going to play the pregnancy. You know, you’re carrying luggage and hiding behind furniture.”
