Jessica

Our favorite ditzy divorcée, Jessica Simpson, told Extra she plans on following Angelina Jolie’s footsteps, “I want to adopt, and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids.” Am I the only one that has watched Newlyweds and finds this a bit scary?

The publicist to the The Dukes of Hazzard star told E! News that, “Jessica and her family have anonymously contributed money to [Mexican] orphanages for several years.” At least, it used to be anonymous. He goes on to say, “It is true that Jessica is exploring options to further help these children in need.”

The 25-year-old actress tells Extra, “I think Angelina Jolie has done amazing, amazing things. The international adoption rate just since her has skyrocketed. It’s unbelievable.” The actress/singer/clothes designer/acne cream spokesperson/Pizza Hut spokesperson/personal fragrance designer reportedly became interested while visiting orphanages in Mexico with a church group when she was 11 years-old.

Conspiracy theorists say this whole adoption story is just another one of Joe Simpson’s schemes to promote her next film, Employee of the Month. “Papa Joe,” as he is sometimes called, is Jess’s media-happy father/agent. I, for one, kind of hope it is just a publicity stunt. I’m not saying that Jess won’t be a good mother one day, nor that she should never adopt… but I just don’t think she has time right now to squeeze any more titles after her name.
